What is an E911 address?

An E911 address is used by emergency services to determine the location of your phone. Your E911 address should be a valid street address where you are primarily using Wi-Fi calling.

Providing an E911 address ensures that you are given emergency services in case 911 cannot determine your location, or you cannot communicate at the time of the call.

Why do I need to register an E911 address?

Having a registered location is required to comply with 911 United States federal regulations. In order to use Wi-Fi calling, you must provide an E911 address, or a “911 Registered Location.”

If you ever call 911 and you cannot communicate at the time of the call, or emergency services cannot determine your location, your E911 address is considered your default location.

You can register or change your E911 address in the setting of your smartphone.
