Why does my text message show a different number, or why can’t I send or receive messages?

If you’re having trouble sending text messages, the issue could be related to your messaging settings, especially if you’re using RCS Chat on Android or iMessage on iPhone. This is usually temporary and happens because your phone number is still being transferred to our upgraded network. Below are step-by-step instructions for troubleshooting both RCS Chat on Android and iPhone to help resolve this issue.

Steps for Android

Disable and Re-enable RCS Chat Features:

  1. Open the Messages app → SettingsChat Features.
  2. Turn off Enable chat features.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Go back to Chat Features in Settings and enable Enable chat features again.
  5. Check if the correct number appears.

Steps for iPhone

Reset iMessage and FaceTime:

  1. Go to SettingsMessages → Toggle off iMessage.
  2. Go to SettingsFaceTime → Toggle off FaceTime.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Go back to SettingsMessages → Toggle on iMessage and repeat for FaceTime.
  5. iMessage should now register the new number.

Following these troubleshooting steps should help you resolve issues with sending text messages on both Android and iPhone. If you’re still experiencing difficulties after completing these steps, please reach out to Q Link Wireless Customer Support for further assistance.
