Unlock Your Restricted Phone: American Assistance

To unlock your phone from your current provider, there are a few requirements you need to meet. Please review the following guidelines.

The requirements for unlocking your phone with American Assistance are as follows:

  1. For prepaid devices: Upon request, American Assistance will unlock prepaid devices no later than one year after initial activation, for subscribers who are in full compliance with their Terms and Conditions.
  2. For Lifeline devices: Upon request, American Assistance will unlock devices used to access Lifeline services no later than one year after initial activation, for subscribers who are in full compliance with their Terms and Conditions.
  3. American Assistance will notify customers when their devices become eligible for unlocking, either at the time of eligibility or by automatically unlocking the devices remotely. Non-customers/non-former customers may be charged a reasonable fee for unlocking requests.

To unlock your phone with American Assistance:

  1. Make sure you meet the requirements:
    • – For prepaid devices, request an unlock within one year of activation, complying with the Terms and Conditions.
    • – For Lifeline devices, request an unlock within one year of activation, complying with the Terms and Conditions.
  2. American Assistance will notify you when your device is eligible for unlocking.
  3. Contact American Assistance Customer Service at 1-877-266-7212.
  4. Request an unlock for your phone and provide the necessary information.
  5. American Assistance will process your request within two days and take appropriate action, such as unlocking the phone, contacting the manufacturer, explaining ineligibility, or providing a processing explanation.
